Holbrook was a team captain during her senior season and led the way in terms of pace and leadership. As a runner, Holbrook views meeting personal challenges as important, as well as the more obvious, external ones.

"I love running because it's me against me," Holbrook said. "While I may have tried to get a certain placement, the real goal has always been to be better than myself.

"It's hard to explain exactly when I love it. I love it for challenging my body, forcing me out of my comfort zone, and giving me time to reflect, pray, and think, and for giving me the satisfactory feeling of accomplishment when I'm done."

If Holbrook had to do college all over again, running at MBU would definitely be on the docket.

"I would definitely choose Maranatha Cross Country all over again," she said. "Coach Ruth [Swanson] was a huge part of my success, along with my amazing teammates who I also call my friends. I loved having the opportunity to minister as we traveled - Maranatha brought the Lord into everything we did."
