WATERTOWN, Wis. -- You can't talk about the 2019 season for Sabercats Women's Soccer without getting the elephants out of the room: the last two NCCAA regional championships.

In 2017 and 2018, the Sabercats have had their hearts broken at the hands of Providence University College, and in an eerily similar fashion. Down by one goal, the Pilots have equalized in the final minute of regulation before stealing the win and the regional banner in sudden-death overtime.

Those losses still hurt, but they are history.

With a new look to this year's team roster and coaching staff, the Sabercats are looking for a fresh start.

SEASON AT A GLANCE

  • Maranatha will not face Providence during the regular season.
  • The Sabercats will have four September home games and nine total home games.
  • The team loses nine student-athletes and six seniors from the 2018 team.
  • NCCAA Regionals will be held at Faith Baptist Bible College, November 8-9.

FEATURED HOME GAMES

  • 11/1-2 (Back-to-back home games)

SCOUTING REPORT

Alexis Sponable - Sponable has racked up 33 goals in just her first two seasons as a Sabercat, so omitting the forward from a scouting report would certainly raise questions. Sponable followed up a 16-goal freshman campaign with 17 goals during her sophomore season. The Michigan native scored three hat-tricks during the 2018 season (including four goals in one game) and was subsequently named as the NCCAA North Region MVP and NCCAA 2nd-Team All-American.

Hannah Evans - Evans played a supporting role to Ali Hernandez in midfield last year, and will look to increase her impact in midfield for 2019. Evans recorded four goals and an assist during her rookie season and earned AD3I 1st-Team All-Independent honors at the end of the season.

Amy Montgomery - Montgomery was a regular starter last season and will look to improve on some standout rookie-season performances. Montgomery registered six goals and two assists in 2018 and she scored in the NCCAA Regional Championship against Providence.
