WATERTOWN, Wis. -- After breaking the Maranatha Men's Cross Country program record for fastest 8K and winning two events, Jeremy Fopma has been named as the Pizza Ranch Student-Athlete of the Month - an in-house award from MBU.

The sophomore transfer was a force to be reckoned with during the month of October. After winning a muddy Warrior Invitational at Wisconsin Lutheran College, Fopma broke into the top spot in the record books with a 26:28 8K at the hyper-competitive Bethel Invitational. That time was good enough to beat the standing program record of 26:52, which was set by Will O'Malley in 2012.

Fopma didn't stop there, though.

After earning that top spot, Fopma performed an encore at the Wisconsin Private College Championships, matching his 26:28 mark en route to winning the event at St. Norbert College.

After the state championships, Fopma rounded off the month with a second-place finish at the Oshkosh Open, finishing with a time of 27:10.
