All-Decade MVP: Torey (DeLozier) Rosen
Think of it this way: people would come just to watch Torey. Her presence on the court was forceful, and she dominated the floor on the NCCAA and the NCAA level. The team went 80-46 through Torey's four years, and her career stats are virtually untouchable - her 2,464 career kills are a solid 550 kills better than the next-closest student-athlete in program history.
She is the most decorated student-athlete in Maranatha history, as she is just one of two Maranatha student-athletes to earn NCCAA DII 1st-Team All-America honors all four years while earning NCCAA DII Player of the Year twice in a row. Rosen led the "Crusaders" to three consecutive NCCAA DII Midwest Region titles, four NCCAA DII National Tournament appearances, and an NCCAA DII National Runner-Up finish in 2012.
After earning the honor of NAC Woman of the Year in 2012, Rosen was a Top-30 finalist out of 455 candidates for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, which honors one woman from the NCAA (all divisions) that demonstrates outstanding ability in academics, athletics, leadership, and community service. Torey was also the first student-athlete from Maranatha to earn the National NCCAA Game Plan 4 LIFE Award.

People know Rosen as a dominant student-athlete, but a "comeback kid"? Probably not. But the title fits.
After suffering a shoulder injury during her senior year of high school, doctors told Torey that she would be - at best - 90 percent healthy for the rest of her life and that playing sports again was questionable. But after hard work, sheer determination, and playing as a setter for a better part of her freshman year, Torey rehabbed her injury and went on to compile a list of honors that reflect her versatility and dominance as a student-athlete.
Rosen was at the top of her game while she was in college, and she offers meaningful advice to aspiring freshmen that want to be at the top of their game.
"Be willing to make sacrifices whether that be on or off the court," Rosen said. "Being dedicated to a sport takes extra time which means you'll have to make tough decisions about time management and social life, but you have to if you want the most out of the experience. You'll get out of it only what you put into it. Help create an environment on your team that you're excited and proud to be a part of. Don't wait until you're an upperclassman to make a positive impact on the team culture. Step up from the beginning to lead a culture of unity, positivity, excellence, and competitiveness.
"As a coach I want to make sure I can provide [positive] experiences and opportunities for others to create their own memories. Even though I've currently stepped away from coaching, I look forward to getting back into it and walking alongside student-athletes in their own journeys. The philosophy of doing everything with excellence has been something I've always taken to heart. As a student-athlete, I had plenty of opportunities to learn more about that concept and also act upon it whether that was in not taking on too many tasks at once, in being a better teammate, in helping organize events and projects, in putting proper focus on my studies, or in improving my skills and mindset for my sport."
