Fopma Goes Farther

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Jeremy Fopma ran himself into the record books last weekend, and the sophomore has earned another NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week honor for his troubles.

Fopma broke the Maranatha Men's Cross Country program record by running a 26:28 8K at the Bethel Invitational last Friday, breaking the seven-year-standing record of 26:52 set by Will O'Malley in 2012.

That time was good enough for a 15th-place finish at the event, and the sophomore has earned his third NCCAA weekly honor since the first weekend of September - and this was just the fourth race this season for Maranatha.

Fopma currently holds the best standing 8K time in the NCCAA DII by nearly a minute and will look to trim that time down closer to his own PR of 26:01.

The next race for Maranatha is this Saturday at the Wisconsin Private College Championships hosted by St. Norbert College in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Find details of the event at mbusabercats.com/schedule.
